Question 1. What is something that surprised you about the
descriptions of Amish beliefs and lifestyle descriptions?
What has surprised me the most was that the amish people with the age of 16 are able to decide for themselves if they want to continue living like this or not. Also has surprised me that their origin is from Germany and they are still using a few german words.
What is something you would like to know more
about?
I would like to know if they are using planes or ships. How did they come to the USA?
Question 2. What is something that you learned about
downtown Lancaster?
Lancaster is a very cultural and old city which has a lot of different kinds of people to live here. It also has a lot to offer, like art, music, museums and restaurants.
Question 3. Which place shown in the Lancaster video was
most interesting to you? Why?
The different restaurants of course :P Like everyone do I like good food and as a german person it is extra interesting to try the food in the USA.
Question 4. How does downtown Lancaster seem similar to or
different from the town you are currently living in? Your hometown?
I live in Lancaster but the difference to my hometown isn't really big because I live in a very old and small city. The one thing I'm still looking for is a good place for a walk. In my hometown I do have a lot of this and I kind of miss it a little.
Question 5. What is your reaction to the article about Amish
romance novels and TV shows?
As long as the romance novels and TV shows are true, I think it's great for people who wants to know more about it.
How do you
think you might react if you were an Amish person? How do you think you might react if romance
novels or TV shows were being written about your home community by outsiders?
As I said as long as the informations are true I think I would find it good and maybe it helps people to understand the culture and how I live.
Question 6. Have you ever used Uber? How does that shape your impression? Do you think you would take an Amish
Uber if you had the chance?
Yes I already used Uber and I also would try an Amish Uber. I think that would be a great experience.
Question 7. Have you ever participated in a race? How do you think running in non-traditional
running clothes might affect your experience?
No I have not. (The last time was in school or in the gym)
I think non-traditional running clothes might be uncomfortable because they are heavier and can't breathe. I wouln't wear them for the gym. But I don't think it would affect my experience.
Question 8. Why do you think the Amish community requires
its members to dress alike and in those styles?
I think because it's their faith and religion. Another reason could be to feel like a community and a unit. I think they are proud of their lifestyle and they want to get recognized from other people in public.
Question 9. Have you ever had to wear a uniform? Did you
like or dislike wearing the uniform? How
did that experience affect you?
No, I never had to wear a uniform and I'm not pretty sure if I would like to or not. But for sure it would reduce mobbing at schools because everyone would wear the same.
Question 10. What
is one question about the Amish or Lancaster that you are excited to find out
more about?
I would like to know how their everyday life looks without any electricity. To be honest, I can't imagine to life like that for just one day.
